BASS Chamonix Director jumping out of a plane!

The 10th of July is fast approaching and I would just like to remind everyone that I will be “JUMPING OUT OF A PLANE WITH THE RED DEVILS” to help raise money for Disability Snowsport UK. It is the Skier & Boarder’s Charity and is the official charity of the British Association of Snowsport Instuctors (our Instructor Members Association).  Recently BASI & DSUK supported The Crystal Holidays Challenge event in Mayrhofen in Austria and that is where this idea all came together.

Sir Steve Redgrave is heading up the team which also includes Alain Baxter (British Olympic Athlete), Andrew Lockerbie (BASI Chairman and part time instructor for us here at BASS Chamonix), Gareth Roberts (BASI Alpine Director) and many BASI Trainers and Staff from BASI, DSUK and Crystal Holidays.

If you have already supported us then THANK YOU. There is still time to make a donation however large or small would be fantastic.

Parallel Dreams Performance Courses update

The Parallel Dreams Performance Courses at Hemel Snowcentre will take place on the 2nd & 3rd of October. Here is an update message from Dave Murrie;

"There will be an opportunity during the course for personal, dynamic
biomechanical analysis. This movement assessement will look at your
alignment on your skis while actually sliding on the snow, i.e. beyond
the nominal alignment available statically during boot fitting. The
session will support the understanding and development of personal
performance. Specific on-snow balancing drills, and exercises in use of
the skis, will help to test your functional aligment and dynamic riding
stance. We will consider how your anatomy, your posture, your equipment
set up, your range of movement and your strength, influences movement
effectiveness and balancing, and moreover affects your actual skiing
performance and ability to progress."
Full information about the course is available at; http://short.ie/kw54da

Tragic death of colleague

We are very sad to report that Keith McIntosh of Alpine Lines was killed in an avalanche during a board test in Austria earlier this month.
Keith was very much part of the snowsports teaching community here in Chamonix and had looked after many of our BASS Chamonix snowboarding clients over the past few years. His death is a tragic loss to the world of snowboarding and to his family and friends.

facebook page has been set up where you can leave messages of support. There is also a link to details of how to donate to the trust fund for his son Arren.
